Why does everything always run out at the same time? Shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, cleanser, the lot! Replacing them all in one go makes such a massive dent that sometimes I end up picking lesser quality stuff just because it’s cheap. I’ll want to try a fancy professional conditioner but can’t commit to spending that much on something I’m not sure if I’ll like. I’d like to treat myself to fragranced body lotion to match my perfume, but the price tag puts me off. That’s why I like shopping in TK Maxx to pick up big beauty brands for less. I always have a rummage in the beauty department when I’m in buying travel or workout bits and the range has at least doubled during their ‘big brand beauty fortnight’ that’s on in store at the moment.
I’m a big fan of feeling like you’re a long way from home without having to drive hours to get there. I suppose that’s one of the great things about Dublin, the beach, the city and the country are all on our doorstep, so we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to weekends away. The other Elf’s (that mam and sis) and I all have pretty busy schedules with work, babies and travel so when we realised Killashee was only 45 minutes from home we booked in quick sharp.
I joined the donation based ‘Short and Sweet’ (there’s tea and homemade cake at the end) two hour long walk from Isla Blanca in the north of the island on an overcast Wednesday morning. I caught up with tour leader Sheila from Walking Ibiza, who is founder Toby’s mother, at the meeting point and she introduced me to some of the other walkers, some new and some regulars. Toby started organising tours after walking the entire coast of the island in 11 days with just €1 relying on generous donations of food and drink from locals and now runs tours around the island and shorter trips on a regular basis.
