Why does everything always run out at the same time? Shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, cleanser, the lot! Replacing them all in one go makes such a massive dent! So sometimes I end up picking lesser quality stuff just because it’s cheap. I’ll want to try a fancy professional conditioner but can’t commit to spending that much on something I’m not sure if I’ll like. I’d like to treat myself to fragranced body lotion to match my perfume, but the price tag puts me off. That’s why I like shopping in TK Maxx to pick up big beauty brands for less. I always have a rummage in the beauty department when I’m in buying travel or workout bits. And the range has at least doubled during their ‘big brand beauty fortnight’ that’s on in store at the moment!
I popped in to the Ilac Centre branch armed with a long list of things I needed to replenish. I decided I better grab a basket when I saw the amount of stock on offer. I’ve been hearing lots of hype about make up removing towels online, you know the ones that don’t need any cleanser and are supposed to replace face wipes. They promise to remove even waterproof mascara, I’m not sure if I believe that. But at €6.99 it’s definitely worth a lash (sorry).
Is it just me, or has the price of even the most basic dry shampoo increased a million per cent recently? And I go through that stuff fast, probably because I buy cheap brands thinking I’m saving money…false economy that is! I found a few salon style brands at TK Maxx for about 50% off the RRP, I went for a lemon scented bottle that cost €6.99 for 250ml which I’m hoping will last longer than my usual cheapo stuff.
I also needed to replace my desk perfume. Yeah, it’s a whole thing. I’m not going to leave my most expensive bottle lying in a drawer for emergencies, so I picked up a little perfume and lotion gift set down from €22 to €9.99, absolute bargain. And a spare handbag nude lip gloss that was less than half price at €3.99.
I love the selection of make up bags too, especially the clear travel sets and if you’re in need of new hot hair tools I suggest you get in there fast. I saw one straightener which normally retails for over €110 being sold for €34.99. I’d nearly keep a spare at that price!
My entire haul, including the false lashes I’m wearing in these pics, a sea salt body polish (55% off at €9.99 from €22) and some exfoliating sponges came to €45.93. That’s a saving of around 40%, or about €30…so many big beauty brands for less. Just enough to treat myself to the blow dry I had the day I took these pictures. If that’s not good maths, I don’t know what is.

You don’t always have to spend much on your beauty regimen and products. All you have to do is find the one that will be good for you skin. The price of the product will not tell how effective it is.
