A gift guide for girls who travel, or guys, or people who don’t even go away that often actually. Let’s just call it some present-buying inspiration. I’ve compiled a little list of things that make travelling easier and more stylish, saving time and maybe more importantly, baggage allowance. Here are a few things that the ladies in your life who travel for work or pleasure will thank you for, not just on birthdays and at Christmas, but for holidays and work trips for months to come.
Ideally I’d travel head to toe in super-soft non-crease cashmere, but this is not an ideal world (I’ve included one in the round up below if anyone is feeling flush though and this one looks divine). In the absence of a spare couple of hundred quid, you can nab this two-in-one travel blanket and pillow for less than €20.
No different than my gift guide for guys who travel, because no one wants to hear that screaming child, regardless of gender, noise cancelling headphones are key. If the over ear headsets featured in my men’s post are too big, try a pair one of these ear bud style ones. This Bang & Olufsen bluetooth speaker is small and stylish with excellent sound quality, anyone would be happy to find it under the tree! Leather cord-tidies are the future, use them to stop phone chargers and headphones getting tangled. Keep things neat and easy to find, with this little trio
Luggage (and accessories)
A customised passport cover and luggage tag make a nice personal present. Try Not on the Highstreet for classic leather goods if you want to steer clear of tacky ‘Keep Calm and Travel On’ fuchsia pink versions.
My advice for actual luggage would be to not go too girly, the novelty will wear off pretty quickly, especially with the other 25 pink cases on the carousel. Think easy to manoeuvre with zipped pockets and compartments that make packing easier like a classic Samsonite expandable suitcase.
Clear plastic zip-up bags are great for separating toiletries and jewellery or even for storing wet swimwear. These M&S ones are a bargain too!
I love Alex and Ani, and not just the bracelets. My favourite travel related collections are naturally the nautical ones, especially their anchor charms and compass pendants. There are loads of bangles with quotes which are good to keep travellers on track when faced with delays and unexpected change of plans too and a St. Christopher medal is usually a hit.
