GIFT GUIDE FOR GIRLS WHO TRAVEL

Here’s a gift guide for girls who travel, because I am a person who loves to travel (very loose Mariah Carey reference, bonus points if you geddit). I do stints like ten flights in two weeks and three continents in two days, so I spend a lot of time in airports and know that the struggle can be very real 18 hours in when your phone battery is dead and you can’t find a socket and you just want to rest your head on something, anything. So I’ve compiled a little list of things that make travelling easier and more stylish, saving time and maybe more importantly, baggage allowance. Here are a few things that the ladies in your life who travel for work or pleasure will thank you for, not just on birthdays and at Christmas, but for holidays and work trips for months to come.

COMFORT

Ideally I’d travel head to toe in super-soft non-crease cashmere, but I’m not actually Mariah. So, I settle for a cosy blanket and inflatable pillow set, which can also be monogrammed

TECH

Avoid the aforementioned airport rage by giving the gift of power. Plenty of high street shops are selling cheap power banks now, but most won’t even charge a phone to 50% and are slow at that! Pick one that can charge two devices at once and pair one of these braided cables that are much more durable and it has a leather cord-tidy to keep things neat and easy to find.

Headphones

Obvs. Same as in my gift guide for guys who travel, because no one wants to hear that screaming child, regardless of gender!

Luggage(y stuff)

A customised passport cover and luggage tag make a nice personal present. Try Not on the Highstreet for classic leather goods if you want to steer clear of tacky ‘Keep Calm and Travel On’ fuchsia pink versions.

My advice for actual luggage would be to not go too girly, the novelty will wear off pretty quickly, especially with the other 25 pink cases on the carousel. Think easy to manoeuvre with zipped pockets and compartments that make packing easier like an American Tourister 4-wheeler.

Clear plastic zip-up bags are great for separating toiletries and jewellery or even for storing wet swimwear. These M&S ones are a bargain too!

Trinkets

I love Alex and Ani, and not just the bracelets. My favourite travel related collections are naturally the nautical ones, especially their anchor charm and compass pendant. There are loads of bangles with quotes which are good to keep travellers on track when faced with delays and unexpected change of plans too.

Here’s a mini gift guide for girls who travel starting from a tenner, I’ve done one for guys too…have a look here. Happy shopping!
